WRLC ARTS

South Rock State School

This commission has to be one of my favorite experiences in learning new skills and endless possibilities of how much you can do with the artwork.

Ngullingi- Us, talks about neighboring tribes and Gugugin Jagun in which South Rock State School has been built upon.

I had been referred from a few different local members as the artist to complete works for South Rock State School while the school was still in the stages of being built, this project has to be one of my biggest ones by far that taught me a lot along the way, I was approached by Celeste Fishburn, who at the time was the Senior Design and Project Officer to be the artist to develop works that represent the School in a whole and to create something that will become a part of their identity and sense of connection to country. The Principal Aaron Jones and his staff at South Rock State School hold deep a respect for Culture and done such a great job to be so inclusive of First Nations Peoples, place and connection.

South Rock State School partnered with many different businesses along their journey of embedding the artworks to really bring it all together within their school, see below all the businesses that they used.

Thank you Waylene for the collaboration on our house shirts. The artwork and story behind our logos have a central part of our school story and our acknowledgement of our traditional custodians.

The staff and students love them!
